Stephen is the UK's leading spokesperson on new home defects and he has an excellent knowledge of NHBC standards and building regulations. Stephen has managed Quality Control for 3 of the top 25 House Builders: As a customer this experience is very important to you because this is why developers take Inspector Home & our reports so seriously.
Stephen was the first person in the UK Building Industry to achieve the Institute of Customer Service Gold Award and is very committed to raising the standards of New Homes and improving Customer Care. |
He appears regularly on TV and radio to discuss the issues with new home defects, has judged many awards in the housing industry and received a standing ovation for his speech at the Institute of Clerk of Works conference.
Vanessa Ambler BA HONS (Commercial Director and co-founder)

Vanessa runs all commercial and campaigning activities for the company. She spent 10 years in the media working for The Independent & Reuters before launching Inspector Home. Vanessa is very passionate about improving customer satisfaction for new home purchasers and has appeared on GMTV & BBC News campaigning for increased consumer protection in the new homes industry.
Vanessa and was selected to join the judging panel for the Glasgow Herald Property Awards 2007 and is interested in working positively and professionally with the industry to ensure that higher standards are achieved.

Professor James Sommerville PhD MRICS FCIOB MSc MAPM MCMI

Professor Sommerville is highly experienced and qualified in construction and new build housing. Currently a professor at Glasgow Caledonian University, he is also a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institute of Building.
Professor Sommerville is also a member of the technical standards committee of the NHBC, which means that clients of Inspector Home will benefit significantly from his in depth knowledge and experience of new home defects and building regulations, in addition to his determination to ensure that new home standards are improved.

Our Inspectors
Currently we employ over 50 inspectors throughout the UK & Spain, ensuring that we can check your home within just a few days if necessary.
All of our inspectors have been selected for their experience and knowledge of the problems faced in New Homes and they have all been personally interviewed by Stephen Nancarrow our MD to check their qualifications, knowledge and suitability for the position. We do not have the space to list all of our inspectors and their experience but please find below a sample of our inspection team:

John Sanders
John has over 35 years experience of the Building Industry and Site Management. He is qualified in Building Supervision and Control and Building Construction. He is committed to quality and has excellent attention to detail, working to a very high standard. He also has an extensive technical knowledge of the building industry.
Terry Edwards
Terry has been working within the Building Industry for over 20 years and has gained a wealth of experience in the finish of new homes to standard during this time. He has a HNC in Construction and also holds the CITB Construction Site Managers Safety Certificate.
Steve West
Steve has been working within the building trade for over 25 years holding a range of positions including Quantity Surveyor, Site Manager and Contracts Manager. He has a sound knowledge of standards and regulations plus the insight of having worked for one of the major developers in the UK
Dilys Potts BSc ONC, HNC
Dilys has over 30 years experience in surveying and construction management. Dilys is an experienced property claims assessor, and uses her skills to across all aspects of defects in new homes.
Bob Hill
Bob is a qualified architectural technologist and has over 30 years experience in the construction industry. His qualifications include: Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, Institute of British Architects, Project Safety, Architectural Technologists.
Bob Cumming
Bob started his building career back in 1969 as a senior engineer. He worked his way up through the field gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience. His last role was that of Construction Manager for a large developer. He is dedicated to his role and aims for perfection.
